DC Life...According to Phone Pictures

These are in a very random order, so bear with me...

Sometimes, when I walk to halls of Capitol Hill...I stumble upon "big deals" offices and get really excited that I am in the middle of all the action!

Michele Bachmann

Sometimes, people who work in the Capitol need a reminder of how elevators work....

I'm a REALLY big finance nerd, and get really excited about strange things related to finance...

Like the oldest bank of Washington!

I may or may not have looked like a creeper taking this picture...considering the door right next to the name plate was opened and his assistant could definitely see me!

We went to the White House, which is right next to the Treasury building. Guess who we saw walking from the White House to the Treasury? Oh just the Secretary of Treasury himself: Mr. Tim Geithner! I definitely showed my true finance nerd colors when nobody in my group knew who he was except me...

Some might ask, "How did you forget to dedicate an entire post to your tour of the White House?!?!"

...Well, it's very simple: It was an absolutely forgettable experience. My least favorite tour so far. Very boring...didn't get to see much...just didn't live up to all the hype, BUT we did get to see the President's dog Bo!

What DID live up to the hype was Georgetown's Sprinkles Cupcakes! We were running an errand and ended up right next door to the cupcake joint. Of course we looked up the special word on Facebook and got the last TWO free cupcakes!! It was a GREAT day in Georgetown!!

So some guy gave us this flyer the day of the State of the Union....

Hip Hop Caucus??!!? I REALLLLLY wanted to tune in to BET and see all the coverage, but unfortunately we didn't have it!

A Girl's Version of the Super Bowl

I am pretty sure I have previously expressed my feelings about football. I don't understand it AT ALL. It is typically four hours of boredom/confusion. The only time I enjoy watching football is with Alex, because I know how much he likes watching football. So you can imagine my anxiety when everyone wanted to spend FOUR precious weekend hours watching football.

Until I came up with a brilliant alternative...

Eat all of the delicious Super Bowl food (because that honestly is the best part),

And watch an all-time favorite movie: Baby Mama.

It was the best Super Bowl Sunday of my entire LIFE!

The after-party may or may not have included making a Spice Girls music video with my roommates...and I thought moving out here would make me grow up...

Ice Skating!!!

Tonight was SO MUCH FUN!!

It was our good friend Trevor's birthday today, so we let him decide what we did tonight. He wanted to go ice skating right outside of the National Archives, which was AWESOME! It was one of those times in my life that made me feel like I was in a movie!

Thanks Trev, for being born!

ALSO, Shout out to our OTHER friend Trevor who has never skated before and skated like a straight up pro!!!

My cute cute roommates Lauren and Sadie

The birthday boy/our brother out here: Trevor Long!

There's the view of the Archives, such a great place to ice skate!

Neither of us fell the WHOLE time!!!

These guys seriously are rad!

The whole group! (Hey Jentry, Trevor has the same problem as you)

One month down, I can't believe how fast it has gone!!

Depressing Touring Day!

Today, we went to all of the depressing sites...well at least tried to.

First, we went to the U.S. Holocaust Museum. It was SOOOO sad, but SOOO interesting. We spent most of the day there, stunned by the Holocaust and what happened SO recently in history. It was shocking.

Ashley, Me, and Lauren. We couldn't take pictures inside, but this was just outside the museum.

Such an amazing memorial

Pledges to help Genocide

My deep picture after we left.

We all got to be a Jew and read about their story throughout the time we were in the museum. It was so interesting to read their stories.

So since we were in a somber mood, we decided to go to the Arlington Cemetery. Unfortunately, it closed 20 minutes before. I was soooo excited to go there and SO sad it was closed! It was a cool area and I can't wait to go another day!

Some high school girls took pictures like this when they first saw a Metro, so we tried to impersonate them!

Excited to be at Arlington...until our spirits were CRUSHED!

Waiting for our metro. No, I don't fake bake....I found the BEST sunless tanning lotion! Ask me if you want in on this non-skin cancer action! I LOVE it!!

To make up for Arlington being closed, we went to yummy yummy dinner!

For the healthier eaters, I specially requested for a non-bun burger. DELIGHTFUL!

JANUARY IS ALMOST OVER!! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WINTER IS BEHIND US AND THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS COME IN!! WAHOOO!

Alex's BIG Announcement

Today, I opened up my email and found this little gem...

Now you can see why I have had a crush on this boy for the past 6 months: He is FREAKIN HOT and has a FABULOUS sense of humor.

Shout out to my great pal Holly for taking some non-engagement pictures of us before I left.

This pretty much made my day. Turned a bad day into a great night!

One Cafe to Rule Them All!!

Today, we made Lauren's dream come true.

When she found out that Alexandria had a restaurant called "Bilbo Baggins", it was on her mind all week long! Tonight, we decided to head on over and see what all the hype was about!

It was pretty great...I mean, I'm not a big Lord of the Rings fan, but just seeing Lauren's face all lit up was worth it! I got the Bilbo burger, it was fabulous!!

Lately, we have gotten into our mundane work lives. We needed a little adventure to make us fall in love with DC all over again. Thank you Bilbo Baggins for making us fall in love with this place all over again!!

American History Museum and Jumbo Slice!

Saturday is our "tourist" days.

Today, we went to the American History Museum for hours and hours, it was so neat! I loved it!

After, we went to the famous "Jumbo Slice"...I think that is my first and last time in that place. I can't even begin to explain to you how ill I feel after eating the most pizza I have ever had in my entire life. I am boycotting pizza for at least a week!

Okay, enough words. I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

Look! Lauren and I are the same height!!!

His winning skates! The pop culture section was my favorite!

Farrah Fausett's famous suit

Nancy Reagan's inaugural dress

George Washington's uniform

Part of the twin towers

This one was close to my heart, since I was "Auntie Em" in the Wizard of Oz musical as a child. Yes, I used to be in musicals as a child. You can go ahead and be jealous.

There were some great people to talk to inside the museum!

Just in case you were wondering, the duck face in pictures doesn't make you look sexier.

We found the occupiers. I am 99% sure that most of those tents are empty.

We weren't quite sure what these were randomly doing as we were walking, but they were pretty neat!!

And last, but definitely NOT least...Jumbo Slice! Thank you for the biggest "food baby" of my life.

I randomly found this quote in a chocolate shop. I LOVED it!!

Well, I accomplished eating the biggest slice of pizza I have ever seen in my entire life. A Saturday well spent in my book!
