He Graduated

I am STILL in complete shock.

My baby bro graduated high school today. Of course I took the news personally when I realized that meant that I graduated FIVE YEARS AGO! What in the world? When did time fly by so fast?

The graduation was great and so fun to see Austin talk and see the video he made for the graduation. He has a bright future ahead of him and I may or may not get a little choked up when I talk about the fact that one year from now, we will be sending him off on a mission for two years.

Austin has always been my little buddy. The first five years of his life, he slept on my bedroom floor because we were best friends. Even though we are five years apart, we have always been really close. I always know who he's dating and he always tells me whether or not I am allowed to marry the guys that I date. I think we will forever be super close and will most likely be raising our kids together in the future. Austin has been lobbying for a post dedicated to him, mostly because he feels that the Life in the Sexy Lane blog followers deserve to know who gets credit for the name of the blog.

I may or may not have stolen the idea after he told me he is going to write an autobiography one day titled "Life in the Sexy Lane". So there ya go...the title is stolen and Austin deserves ALL THE CREDIT!

Here are some pics from the day:

Austin delivering his speech.

Sean is my favorite friend of Austin's.

Proudest moment of the day: Austin making a fool out of himself when they announced his name.

Rylie was pretty good for a 1 year old sitting through a 2.5 hour graduation!

Handsome boy. Congrats Austin!

Embrace the Crazy

This week my life transitioned from being weirded out that I'm not in DC anymore to complete craziness. I am now working 3 days in Salt Lake (which means I leave for work at 7 am and get home about 6:30 pm). That's a loooong day. The other two days I am cramming 20 hours of work into two days, so that can get a little crazy too. Basically I am going to become a work-a-holic this summer. Oh, and don't forget that I signed up for 5 half marathons that I am also training for. No big, I am pretty much super woman so it will all work out right? I just wish I had a little more time to spend with my boyfriend...

One perk of my job is that I work close to Sugar House Park. That means I eat lunch at Sugar House Park daily.

Welcome to my new job! Here's stacks of client cases that need to be looked over! I got a text from Alex saying he was going to take a nap whilst I was looking at this massive pile of work WISHING I could just take a little nap under my desk!

Even though life is crazy, I still get my children time in. A trick to living a crazy life is to do two things at once. Like go running to your sister's house. That way you get a run in and you get kid time in!

Perfect Weekend

I have had the most amazing weekend. All good things. Here's how it went down:

-New running shoes arrived and I am OBSESSED

-Pedicures with Cath

-Yogurtland with Cath

-MV Boys soccer game with Cath and Alex

-Outback with the family

-Bike ride with Alex

-Movie Night

****THE NEXT DAY****

-Run up Provo Canyon with Alex to Bridal Veil Falls with my new shoes

-Lunch with Katie, Rylie, and Kali in the backyard

-BYU Soccer game vs. Real Salt Lake

-Brick Oven for dinner

Doesn't all of those things sound AMAZING?? Great great greeeeat weekend.

Alex says I am the only person in the world who buys a birthday present for myself. I say I buy myself the BEST PRESENTS! These bad boys will be powering my 5 half marathons this summer!!

Yogurtland I have missed you SOOO much!!

Pedicure with Cath. I remembered why I loved going to the place in the mall we go to. The lady told me I look thinner. She knows how to keep customers.

Bike ride with the man. Isn't he so cute?

"I don't want a picture, I look so gross!" - Alex's words, not mine. I embraced my nastiness and took a great self portrait!

I have missed these mountains SOOO much!! Also, notice my great runners trick- put your key on your shoelace ;)

Soccer game with my girl!

A beautiful day for a soccer game. Zoobie watching is 100 times more fun than your average people watching.

Iphone, New Job, and My Favorite Peeps

Since I have gotten home, everything has just been a blur. Of course, I had a "midlife crisis" of what I should do next since my life was only planned through to my college graduation. Also, I didn't know how to feel about being home and feeling like my whole D.C. experience was a dream. BUT, things always have a way of working themselves out and life is good. I bought a new iphone this week and I am pretty much obsessed. Every time Alex would tell me how amazing his was, I never really believed him...but now I am a true believer! That is one amazing device. Also while I was buying myself presents, I may or may not have ordered some new running shoes and have been counting down the days until they get here (today is the day!!!)

Other than me spoiling myself...I managed to get two jobs, spend lots of time with the fam, and see Alex every day since I have been home. Life is good.

Alex, Austin, and I played an intense game of speed. I lost. I blame it on my flip-flops, not my lack of skills.

The girls and I at a political BBQ

The Great Wall of Chocolate at PF Changs = AMAZING. It also helps you get in shape for swimsuit season...

The boys and I enjoying PF Changs. Thanks Cath!!

You know those great snacks you have as a child and then rediscover them as an adult?? Snack Pack, I promise never to forget about your deliciousness again!!

Home Sweet Home

I haven't posted since I got home. Mostly cause I haven't taken any pictures. Also, because I still am in shock that my internship is over and I am back in Utah. It all feels like a big dream now! It's sooooo freaking weird and it freaks me out! I could never have gone on a mission, just being away for four months in a different world and then coming back home has weirded me out.

Being home definitely has perks though- like getting to play with the cutest kids on earth regularly.

AND playing with my favorite person daily:

Isn't he so cool? Yeah, I think so too.

Shout out to Cath and all of my other Moms. You guys rock.

My Last Day in the 202

I don't think it has hit me that I will be back in Utah tomorrow! These past four months have flown! I am so grateful for the time I got to spend out here and I am going to miss this place and all of my friends I have made! It truly has been a great experience for me and I am so glad I got to come out here and intern!

Today I took my parents to see a Senate Roll Call Vote, because that is by far one of the coolest things to see. My parents loved being able to see all of the senators in action! It was fun to spend my last day here at the Capitol! I am going to miss it!

After that, we had lunch at my very favorite sandwich shop: West Wing Cafe. AMAZING sandwiches (in case you didn't know, sandwiches are my favorite food).

Then, it was off to the Newseum. The Newseum is one of the COOLEST museums around. It is my second favorite museum in town. It talks about the news and the roll of the media to tell the public the truth about what goes on. I really enjoyed it. I actually spent 2.5 hours in there and wasn't even bored!

After that, Cath and I were done with the museums and sent Dave off to finish his quest to see every single museum in the city. Instead, we hit up Union Station for some shopping!

My last supper in DC was at Pizzeria Uno, which was very very tasty! It was my first time there and it was pretty good!

Here's todays pictures:

Dinner at Pizzeria Uno. We have eaten so much good food this trip! Don't be surprised if I look a little chubby upon my return!

The Berlin Wall at the Newseum

Recovered rubble from September 11 at the Newseum

I thought this was SOO cool! I am OBSESSED with the Amy Poehler and Tina Fey SNL clip of them acting as Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin. This is their SNL costumes from my favorite clip!

More SNL costumes from the 2008 campaign

The Newseum had TONS of newspapers from around the world. Here is today's Salt Lake Tribune paper!

There was also a section that had headlines from each year. This paper was from my birth year- 1989

A cool quote by Lincoln

The cable antenna from the World Trade Center that was recovered after 9/11

The desk of Tim Russert

This map was super interesting. All of the GREEN countries are countries that have freedom of speech. All of the YELLOW countries have partial freedom of speech, and all of the RED countries have no freedom of speech. Crazy right??

A memorial for all of the journalists who died doing their jobs reporting news. It's amazing how many lives are lost by people who are trying to report the truth.

Cath interviewing me!

A news chopper

Kelli Young 2050!

Don't you think Cath looks right in her element??

People of Utah- Give me a call this weekend!! Party time!

Pavement Pounding in DC

For the past THREE weeks, I have POUNDED the DC pavement with Carlie, Ashley, Alex, and now my parents. I think I am just about done doing all the tourist stuff in this city. I mean, I looove walking the National Mall...but 7 times is probably enough! Today was FULL of sight seeing! Here's what we did:

Ford's Theatre

National Portrait Gallery

International Spy Museum

National Archives

Dinner at Good Stuff

Washington Monument

White House

World War II Monument

Vietnam Wall

Lincoln Memorial

I am pretty much EXHAUSTED! Here's some pictures from our busy day:

The theatre box that Lincoln was shot

Inside the theatre

We went across the street into the house Lincoln died the next day

National Portrait Gallery! We only went through the exhibit with the portraits of the presidents, that's about all my attention span could handle in an art museum!

JFK

Reagan

Lincoln

Washignton

Cath and I were pretty worn out from all the sight seeing, but we prevailed!

International Spy Museum

The back of the Capitol

My cute parents

Story of the day: walking, walking, walking!

My little home for the past 4 months! I'm gonna miss it!

My FAVORITE DC eating: Good Stuff Eatery

UTAH! I am coming for you!

Vietnam Wall

Lincoln Memorial

Do all these pictures feel like a Deja Vu from all of my previous posts this past month? Mostly cause they are. I am a professional DC tourist now!
